REGISTRATION

 

We ask all walkers to register in advance of the walks - this speeds up the process for everyone on arrival. Registration information should be submitted with the appropriate fees before June 14^th. You can also submit this information using the online registration form opposite.

 

The Registration desk will be open from 14.00hrs on the Wednesday before the Walks. Pre-registered walkers can collect their start cards at the desk. The Wednesday evening briefing session is short but important and we encourage all walkers to attend. Registration will continue after the briefing

 

 

2011 REGISTRATION RATES

 

Rambles, 20km & 40km road walks:

Adult - € 40 for 4 days OR € 10 payable daily

Under 16 yrs - € 15 for 4 days OR € 5 payable daily

Over 70 yrs - € 15 for 4 days OR € 5 payable daily.

Family Ticket - 25% discount

Group Rates - 1 FREE regsitration with every 10 full adult registration fees paid.

 

 

10km Road Walk:

Adult - € 5 per day

Under 16 yrs - € 2 per day

 

FREE registration if you have completed 20 years walking with us at the Castlebar Walks!

 

 

AGE LIMITS

 

40km - 15 yrs & over  

20km - 11 yrs & over

10km - 11 yrs & over. Younger children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Ramble - 15 yrs & over. Children 11 to 14 yrs must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  

 

 

 

AWARDS

 

On the last day of the Festival each walker will receive a certificate. In addition each qualifying walker will be presented with a Castlebar International 4 Days' Walks medal on completion of all four days subject to the age categories detailed below:

 

17 ys & under - 20km each day
18 - 59 yrs - Ramble or 40km each day
60 - 69 yrs - 20km or Ramble each day
70 yrs & over - 10km or 20km each day

At a formal ceremony at 18.00 on Sunday evening the Mayor of Castlebar presents the silver and gold Castlebar International 4 Days' Walks medals. The IML awards, including European Walker and Master Walker are also presented at this ceremony. Current medal holders who complete the scheduled walks will be presented with a repeat emblem.

INTERNATIONAL MARCHING LEAGUE (IML)

 

The IML is a worldwide walking association with over 20 members. Since its foundation in 1987 the IML has pursued two main goals - firstly, to encourage walkers to cross international frontiers and secondly to bring people of different cultures and traditions together. Countless walkers have participated in IML events all over the world, many of who would never have considered walking in other countries without the motivation of the IML.
